Ubicada, en 2002, en la calle Jovellanos, concretamente en la pared lateral de la antigua cárcel, actual Oficina de Turismo.Es de acero inoxidable y está encastrada en la pared del edificio.Simboliza la libertad, a través del esbalón de una cadena que traspasa el muro de la antigua prisión y se asoma al exterior, donde se rompe.

when i was in sixth grade, billy froehlich wrote the following in my autograph book:

"may the pigeon of happiness shit on your red head."

i never forgot that, ever. and this blue swallow is that bird — an ancient symbol for mariners who’ve traveled thousands of nautical miles to get where they are.

this particular bird is in the process of building a nest. my nest. to that end, she carries three things in her beak:

for my uncle, a pine bough, representing all the happy christmases of my youth.

for my mother, a red rose, because i knew it’d make her feel loved.

and for florian, a four-leaf clover, for the luck he’s brought me, for the irish land that brought him to me, and for the rareness of its perfect little petals.

most important, the bird is facing my heart… because she knows that’s where the home is.
